On January 24th, the Druid Park YMCA will bring 15 kids from their building to Geronimo Robinson's home on Eutaw Place to learn about African art, view a CD rom showing pictures of Southern Africa and will participate in a discussion on Black Economic Empowerment.


February 9th, Geronimo Robinson will be speaking at the Mary M. Bethune House in Washington, DC to discuss the life of civil rights leader Victoria Jackson Gray Adams and the work being done by Issac and Imani Inc. with orphans and children with special needs currently being designed for the Republic of Botswana and Southern Africa.

Standing on My Sisters Shoulders


In 1965 when three women walked into the US House of Representatives in Washington , D.C. in 1965, they had come a very long way. Through moving interviews and powerful archival footage, Standing on My Sisters' Shoulders weaves a story of commitment, passion and perseverance and tells the story of the women who fought for change in Mississippi and altered the course of American history forever. E. Geronimo Robinson, President of Issac & Imani Inc. and close family relative of the late Victoria Adams Gray, a true African American Women of Achievement, will head the discussion on the interpretation of a film relating to the life and times of Mrs. Adams, and her undeniable role in the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party


During the month of February, Black History Month, National Capital Region sites will have events, exhibits and tours associated with African American History. On February 24th, Geronimo Robinson will serve as host for the Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore African American Music Concert which will be held at the Reginald Lewis Museum in Baltimore City.


During the last week of May 2007, Geronimo Robinson will chair the committee meeting for the Multicultural Special Interest Group (MSIG) while attending the annual conference for the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Atlanta, GA.


2008-2009


On July 19, the Municipal Opera of Baltimore will present a presentation of an opera at the Artscape event in downtown Baltimore. See the artscape website for details.


In May 2009, Mr. Robinson will chair the Multicultural committee meetings at the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities annual conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. While at the conference Robinson will host a forum where representatives of local residential and outpatient and inpatient facilities serving persons with mental and/or physical disabilities will discuss the state of services post Katrina.

Mr. Robinson will be doing two lectures at the Corcoran Museum in downtown Washington, DC on November 18, 2008.

 

A fundraiser is being planned for the new non profit in the spring of 2009 at a location and time to be announced in Northern Virginia. The fundraiser is to be held in conjunction with a company called Developmental Support Associates. DSA is partnering with FTIN to raise money for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities here in the DC metro area and in Botswana, Africa.

 

Geronimo Robinson hosted a concert held by the Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore at the Walters Art Museum in downtown Baltimore on October 12, 2008. The concert was sponsored by the Baltimore Office on Promotion of the Arts. Geronimo Robinson applied for a grant on behalf of MOCB to stage several excerpts of an opera called Bent Twig, written and composed by 2 African American natives of Maryland. The event was well attended and was a success.
